New Year’s Day is my favorite holiday. It’s the day when I slough off the champagne haze from the night before and dig into my pseudo-southern roots to make my black-eyed pea soup with greens for good luck. No matter the weather, I always do a meditative hike in one of my favorite spots. It’s a time for contemplation, visioning and finding ground to manifest the year ahead.
As poet, David Whyte so eloquently states, “…To come to ground is to find a home in circumstances and to face the truth, no matter how difficult that truth may be; to come to ground is to begin the courageous conversation: to step into difficulty and by taking that first step, begin the movement through all difficulties to come, to find the support and foundation that has been beneath our feet all along”
So true and particularly important as we embark on a new bunch of 365’s. Long ago I stopped making new year’s resolutions and simply began to vision about what I wanted to manifest. If you’re like me, intentions range from small to lofty and can often feel daunting. But it’s only because we think of the starting and end point, rather than the steps between.
This year, put your resolutions aside and open your vision to what you want to create this year. Think of the starting point, vision the end product and strategize about the steps between. It’s called making a plan, setting it into action so it’s not some nebulous ‘thing’ ‘out there’, but something that you are committed to manifesting!
I’m keeping this post brief because I’m itching to get my list going! So I’m including links to 3 posts to help us navigate the year ahead.
